Flared 19th June 2008

The Luxor hotel. I love the almost pixellated reflections of the jet trails in the glass of the pyramid. The lens flare in this shot is all in-camera - I'm not normally a fan of lens flare, and ordinarily I'll go to great lengths to avoid it (or to Photoshop it out if it's unavoidable) - but it works in this shot in my opinion.

  • There's a lot there that I'd say was wrong, but you're right, it all works. I'd have tried to put the tree leaves on a third, but that wouldn't have done as well, and the slope of the Luxor really ties together the top and bottom half of the image. Strong composition, very nice.
